You say that the old English/British penny was "small," yet those things are 32mm, about an 1 1/4" across.
When the UK went decimal in the 1970's, my grandfather kept a bunch of the old ones which we used as chips when playing cards. I have two old pennies, one from 1902 and the other in much better condition from 1919.
I said that the coin was small, because they had to abbreviate, “Edward the Seventh by the Grace of God King of all the Britains Defender of the Faith Emperor of India”. Can you see why I called the coin small? Perhaps I should have described it as, "too small".
Who knew! Always learning something here, 3 cent pieces!

Such history in those coins. I never knew about the 3 cent coin. Fascinating!
