Wow, are these original Nikon promotional brochure pics!? Lol. This one looks in absolutely beautiful condition. I look forward to seeing the results 😃

Thank you for today’s time traveling experience.

Nick-on or Ny-con 😂

For me, Ny-con and Nick-cor.

A friend of mine had a Nikon like that. I don't know the specific model, but I asked to borrow it to take some pictures at a car show in Memphis. "So, you are going to take pictures of cars?" I told him that was the plan, but I also was going to take some pictures of the Playboy Playmate from the 25th anniversary magazine because she was taking pictures and signing autographs. He decided to go with me to make sure his camera was taken care of.

A wise friend.

My bet is the camera performs perfectly & you’ll have no questions unless using questionable film or challenging lighting conditions plus no lens hood, or guess re exposure if the meter don’t work. I too bought a similar but very heavily used Nikon but it did not seem to fit my preferred left eye position, nor did my right hand grip & fingers enjoy the self timer position.

The lens is excellent. Soft case shows a ton of ‘carry wear’ - the camera zero wear - usually indicative of a ‘second camera with black & white film or transparency loaded & principal camera with colour film of course & usually neg for more latitude. I had a 3rd low end used Canon body for Time Lapse - massive shutter counts.. MASSIVE ! & obvious risk of hiding a camera & intervalometer ‘in plain sight’ for hours at a time

Lost my Initial Pentax Equipment to saltwater sand, salt dust & torrential Vancouver Island rain & soon rebuilt around that Nikon camera body. Nikon Canada in Toronto granted me Pro Access Membership re lenses & accessories & used Nikon stuff was in every pawnshop - decent used Canon real hard to find, much pricier accordingly, but the bodies fit my hands & eyes better.

Since I black taped over all Brand ID & corners / edges as well as camera strap & used seemingly nondescript camera bag - attempted theft & casual conversation inquiries dropped to almost zero - as NIKON F branding was a high visibility magnet for pro thieves - but unfortunately Not a Girl Magnet !

Another good looking one! Nice. I have my Dad’s Contaflex, which he kept in great condition, I say this only because the case is rock solid! It is leather, but solid! Interesting to hear of a softer cousin.

I had never seen a case like this one, most of the cases are that hard leather. It was a small, but interesting detail to me. I’ll get a picture of it and post it, here.

Wow! That looks to be in stunning condition, a fantastic buy.

Thank you, Mark. They are not mine. here are part of a larger estate that we are auctioning. When they come up, I will bid on them.

That beast looks like a work of art.

I shoot digital (I own an Olympus Pen F), but I used to go on photowalks with a woman who shot with an old Nikon F. Even though I shoot digital, I've got nothing but love and respect for vintage gear. Even a bit of envy too. What a great camera.

Thank you, H. E.

I had one! Was a fool to let it go. And I have that lens. It's amazing. Those are great shots! I can't wait to see your photos.

Darin's avatar

I had been looking for a nice F, and I have wanted that lens for some time. When both showed up together, and in such good condition, I bid. I am glad that there wasn’t more competition.

Congratulations!!! You will so enjoy the pair.

First, when do we see a pic of the entire collection?

Second, it's been established through scores of studies, esp in the court cases comparing the judges' decisions in the moments leading up to lunch vs the ones they make immediately after lunch (sentences are much harsher and less creative when made just before lunch) , that our judgement is impaired before lunch but back to full reason after lunch.

But you say you bought this at a "weak moment" after lunch? D -- do I need to organize a substack intervention?

After lunch, the carbs hit just the right way, and I find myself very suggestible. Have you seen the pictures from the San Luis Valley? I found the rolls.
