Today, I was able to shoot a couple of things that are pleasant to me. In this post, I will show you a (very) Sad Iron.
Old iron has a pleasant color, and the rust creates lots of cool texture, and you all know how much I love my texture!
This iron is a bit small, for a sad iron. The word, “sad”, is (apparently) an Old English word for solid. The very first sad irons were solid iron, but later irons were hollow, and you could put hot coals into the inside to keep the iron hotter, for longer. Consider, at one point, this was state-of-the-art technology, for the modern housewife.
Old iron, looks really good in B&W, but I typically like a bit more texture, or even rusty flaking for monochrome shots.
It’s nice to be able to shoot some fun stuff. Not sure what I’ve got coming up, but I always hope for something interesting.
I’d love to hear some of the stories that iron could tell!
I love old things like this! How spoiled we are right? That's some sad iron!
